I have some wonderful news to share with you all! This week I was awarded the title of 2019 AIPP South Australian Student Photographer of the Year! I am so humbled and honoured to receive this award.
I’m currently completing the Diploma of Photography and Photo Imaging at the Centre for Creative Photography. As a student AIPP member, I was able to enter three images for the 2019 SA State AIPP Awards. All my entries were composite images that belong to my new “In a Daydream…” series, recently exhibited at the Harvest Exhibition 2019. The images “Navigators” and “Aviators” both received a Silver Award each and “Kindred Souls” missed out by one point on a Silver, but was regarded as high professional practice! I’m very pleased with this result given it was my first-time entry, but even more excited to have won the overall category win for the 2019 AIPP South Australian Student Photographer of the Year!
Thank you so much to Nikon for sponsoring the award for the South Australian Student Photographer of the Year award. Thanks to Epson for their ongoing support of the state awards and Marden Senior College for supporting the SA AIPP team and allowing the use of their amazing venue to host the event. Thanks to the South Australian AIPP team (as well as interstate AIPP members and judges) who worked long days and nights to put on the SA State awards. This year I volunteered by helping out with Print Handing and I gained a deeper appreciation into how much goes into organizing and ensuring this type of event runs smoothly. Without the AIPP team and volunteers, this would be impossible. Thank you to all volunteers, judges, all entrants and visitors.
I would like to sincerely thank my awesome husband, John and my two boys for their constant love, support and encouragement of my photography! My John is always willing to assist me with my “crazy ideas” with great patience – he even goes to the trouble of making little props for me (after I explain what I need) and assists me to photograph my little subjects!
I would love to thank the amazing Gee Greenslade for her support and encouragement to get me ‘out of my ‘comfort zone’ and enter the state awards this year. Gee, you are truly a marvellous talent, beautiful soul and such an inspiration to me!
Thank you to the staff and crew at the Centre for Creative Photography! It has been so much fun studying at this amazing photography school and I’ve met so many inspiring photographers and artists!
Just being in a room among such talented photographers on the awards night was overwhelming – I’m still pinching myself! To have been included in this group photograph of category winners was such an honour! Congratulations to all the awesome 2019 South Australian AIPP Category Winners!
